Ukraine War Refugees Celebrate Purim

Chabad Lubavitch of Donetsk, Ukraine, a city currently torn by the civil war gripping the country, celebrated Purim with Jewish refugees in exile – in the nation’s capital city of Kiev.

The event was a delightful respite for the jaded refugees, nearly 400 of whom attended the event.

Chabad of Donetsk, once a center of Jewish life and the headquarters of kosher food production in the Former Soviet Union, is led by Rabbi Pinchas Vishedsky. The center is now based in Kiev, Ukraine, where almost all of the city’s Jews have fled since the Russian-backed insurgency overtook the city over two years ago.
