Chabad’s convention, or Kinus, is the largest annual gathering of West Coast Jewish leaders, drawing representatives from every major Jewish community in the region. The Kinus brings Chabad emissaries together to attend workshops, hear speakers, and share ideas on serving their local communities.
“This is one of the most inspiring events of the year for Chabad,” said Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin, head of West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch. “It’s a gathering of people who dedicate themselves every day to helping those in need — whether it’s at hospitals, shelters, preschools, senior centers or on college campuses.”
Keynote speaker Michael Medved will share his thoughts on Chabad’s work at the Kinus’ Leadership Dinner on February 18. Medved’s daily radio program reaches more than 2,500,000 listeners on over 200 stations nationwide, and consistently ranks among the top 10 political radio shows in America.
Many diverse issues will be explored in the Kinus’ workshops, with topics ranging from harnessing the power of student participation in classrooms to raising public awareness of Jewish genetic conditions and their treatment. Other interactive sessions will explore subjects like conflict resolution and mediation, building and expanding Chabad community centers, and ways to effectively spread the word about local Chabad programming.
Chabad, a community-based nonprofit organization whose efforts are rooted in traditional Jewish values, offers many programs to help the needy regardless of background or belief. Chabad runs the largest network of educational and nonsectarian social services under Jewish auspices on the West Coast.
