Video: Standing Up for your Values in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Menorah’s around the world are being lit to mark the third day of Hanukkah. One of those menorahs is in Court Square in downtown Springfield where Mayor Domenic Sarno joined in the traditional lighting ceremony.

Children from the Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy in Longmeadow looked on and sang.

The academy’s Rabbi said he hopes their public display of faith will be a lesson to others.

He said no one should be afraid to show what they believe in.

“This city has seen some problems, adversity, and this is a message, we feel people need to know that if there are things going on in the environment that aren’t consistent with one’s values, then it’s important to stand up for your values and to say no to what’s happening outside,” says Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky.

Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days and nights.
