It’s Never Too Late, Man has Bar Mitzvah at 75
A 75-year-old man put on Tefillin for the first time yesterday, Pesach Sheini. The man came to the Chesed Center Shaarei Chesed in Moscow, Russia asking for assistance.
Alexander Slonimer, an Odessa born man whose parents came from the city of Slonim in Belarus. His father fought in World War II, during which his family fled to Moscow where they remained.
At the center a Rabbi asked him “did you put on Tefillin today?” he responded “what is that?”
After showing him a pair of Tefillin and asking if he know what they were, he answered that he didn’t.
“It was so that this man embodied the meaning of Pesach Sheinei, that no is left behind and the situation is never lost. Together we celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at the age of 75” the Rabbi said.
