Shliach Delivers Prayer at Military Gathering
At the conclusion of last week, Rabbi Berel Zaklikofsky, Director of Chabad of Goodyear, AZ was invited by Lieutenant Colonel Chaplain Ted Wilson to be honored with delivering the “Jewish prayer” at the National Prayer Breakfast at Arizona’s Luke Air Force Base, located in West Phoenix.
It was attended by 200 Men and Woman from the Base, who look forward all year to this awe-inspiring event to pray for the Nation and their brothers and sisters who serve with them.
At the end of the Breakfast, The Rabbi was able to meet with other high ranking Military officials like Brig. General and Commander Jerry Harris and incoming Commanding Chaplain for US Armed Forces in Europe, Chaplain Colonel Cheri Wheeler. The Rabbi was welcomed with great joy and respect as the first Chabad Rabbi to deliver a Prayer for this Exclusive annual event.
The National Prayer Breakfast dates back to WWII. In 1942, members of the US Senate and the house of representatives would gather together during breakfast to pray for our nation. Since then members of congress have continued to meet and pray together. Since 1970 the US Military continued this tradition with their own prayer breakfast and Luncheon, to pray for our Nation and its Warriors.
May Hashem watch over them
