Shluchim Share Secrets to Happy Marriage

Rabbi Chaim and Sora Jacobs, senior Chabad Shluchim to Scotland for over 45 years, were interviewed yesterday on the popular daily BBC Radio Program ‘Macaulay & Co’. The producers were looking to speak to a married couple who work together every day of their lives, and the Shluchim fit the bill perfectly.

Rabbi Jacobs stressed the great importance of married life, rather than just working as ‘partners’.

Sora Jacobs took the opportunity to explain the importance of giving each person their own space, while explaining the value of always having each other around most of the time.

Rabbi Jacobs took the opportunity to explain the background of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, and the virtues of the L’Chaim’s Kosher Restaurant that they jointly run – in that it is not a business but a service to the community and beyond. “We cannot preach to the community to eat only kosher unless we give people the means to do so,” said Rabbi Jacobs.

Rabbi Jacobs and the Rebbetzin explained that the strength of their relationship is because they both take special delight in all the achievements of the other. There is never rivalry or jealousy, but sheer pride in the accomplishments of each other.

When asked for his advice to other couples working together, Rabbi Jacobs said “get married and good luck!”
