Purim Around the World: Vinnitza, Ukraine

Despite the recent tragic loss of a young member of their community, the Jews of Vinnitza, Ukraine were able to put away their sorrows and celebrate Purim with joy and optimism.

On the eve of Purim, Motzei Shabbos, the Jewish community gathered at the city’s main synagogue, where they heard the reading of the Megillah, followed by joyous singing, dancing and saying L’chaim.

On Purim day, hundreds gathered at a local theater for a Purim Spiel performed by the students of the Or Avner Jewish day school.

The show was followed by a lavish Purim feast, while the crowd heard words of inspiration from the Shliach, Rabbi Shaul Horowitz.
