Boston Suburb Welcomes New Torah
Beth Menachem Chabad of Newton, Mass. celebrated the completion of a new Sefer Torah, which was donated by one of the founding members of the Shul, Mr. Melvin Weiner and family.
The ceremony began with short introductory remarks from Rabbi Chaim Prus, the regional director of Chabad of Eastern Massachusetts and the rabbi of Beth Menachem Chabad, which preceded the conclusion of the last sentence of the Torah.
After placing the new crown upon the Torah, the assembled congregants proceeded with song and dance under a chupah to bring the Torah into the main sanctuary of the synagogue. All festivities were complimented with live music.
Following the traditional Hakkafot of jubilation, all present joined in for a Seudat Mitzvah.
The event was attended by members of the community, as well as Chabad shluchim in the area, rabbanim from Newton, and many supporters of Chabad of Greater Boston.
