Mayor Surprises Shluchim with Request for Menorah

Chanukah celebrations got off to an unexpected start in Redbridge Council, a suburb of London, UK, when an unsolicited invitation arrived from the head of the council to have a Menorah lighting ceremony at Town Hall.

Rabbis Aryeh Sufrin and Moshe Muller led the service in the inner chamber of the council, followed by the ‘lighting’ of an electric Menorah, which was switched on by Head of the Council Keith Prince.

The Redbridge Town Hall Menorah is one of ten public Menorahs in Northeast London and Essex organized by the area’s Shluchim: Rabbi Moshe Muller of Chabad – Ilford and Rabbi Odom Brandman of Chabad – Buckhurst Hill.
