Jewish Organizations Unite to Spread Light of Chanukah
In the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba, organizations such as Bnei Brith, Wizo, The Jewish Federation, Naamat Pioneiras and others were recruited to get involved in an impressive mission: To bring the light of Chanukah to every home in the city.
For that purpose, the Beit Chabad of Curitiba raised money with the participation of the above-mentioned organizations and four others, designed and printed custom-made impressive Chanukah boxes with the Brochot printed on them, and made a special order of colored candles.
Scores of volunteers joined in the effort, starting from the packing of the candle boxes all the way to hand delivering them to the doorsteps of every Jewish home, bundled with a beautiful brochure about Chanuka.
At this time, over 850 boxes have already been packed and distributed.
“This is an unbelievable unity,” said Rabbi Dubrawsky, regional director of Chabad of Parana. “Everyone likes light, you just need to get them on board.” Rabbi Dubrawsky said he believes that this type of project can be emulated in other communities around the world.
