Six New Shluchim to Germany

A recent gathering during the induction of new Hamburg Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Bistritzky, brought together 24 Shluchim from fourteen German cities to discuss the future for Chabad in Germany. Also present was Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, who has been involved in German Jewish life for more than 30 years and helped establish many of the Chabad Houses there.

Together with Rabbi Yisroel Diskind, Head Shliach to Germany, Many new ideas were discussed and developed.

Upon his return Rabbi Kotlarsky announced that six new Shluhcim would be joining the Rebbe’s army in Germany in the near future.

Two of the Shluchim will be opening up Chabad centers in new cities, while another two will be setting up on university campuses, and the remaining two will be joining existing Chabad centers.

Always nice to see new Shluchhim “setting up shop” but wasn’t the Rebbe against setting up Chabad Houses in Germany and Mexico? That’s what I seem to recall.

Not sure how I feel about strengthening Jewish life in Germany…
In any event I would like to know how M Kotlarsky decides which countries to help? There are other places desparate for shluchim which Merkos is not funding… nu?

There are so many Jews in Germany who thought that there they can forget their heritage. Thanks to the Shluchim we are proving that Hitler was vanquished as Jewish neshomos are reconnected to Yiddishkeit

The Rebbe was against setting up Chabad Houses in Germany, because there is a very big organisation that all shuls are under, the Jüdische Gemeinde (Jewich Community), the Rebbe did send shluchim to Germany not to open their own shuls, but to work together with the Gemeinde
