South Africa Camp Posts Record Summer

Down in sunny South Africa, a record-breaking 280 children in Johannesburg enjoyed their summer vacations at the Camp Gan Israel in Johannesburg.

Directed by Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Pini and Rochie Pink, the two-week day camp featured Jewish-themed arts and crafts, shows and trips, including a day at the Gold Reef City historical amusement park. Taking place in December – the heart of summer south of the equator – the camp posted its largest attendance figure yet.

“The key to our success is the devotion of our staff members,” said Pini Pink, a native of Manchester, England. “We had a wonderful group of both local and international counselors and head counselors who were dedicated to the children, and did a phenomenal job.”

“My child had such an unbelievable time and gained so much,” commented mother Sarah Polak. “This camp was one of the greatest bargains I’ve ever received.”
