Holocaust Survivors’ Cooking Inspires Florida Women
This past Wednesday, women from four local Florida Chabad Centers joined for an inspirational evening with Joanne Caras, author of Holocaust Survivor Cookbook.
For the past six years Joanne has worked tirelessly to create and promote her incredible cookbook featuring over 250 delicious recipes and never to be forgotten stories from Holocaust Survivors from all over the world.
Before introducing the author, Mrs. Chanie Posner of Plantation opened the evening by welcoming all the women and offered them a meaningful Torah message.
Joanne who has appeared on National TV throughout the US, Canada, and Israel, spoke beautifully to the over 100 women in the crowd; her stories were certainly very emotional and inspiring. “She spoke passionately about how this all came about and why she put together this wonderful cookbook,” remarked Chabad of SW Broward’s Gitty Andrusier. “The women were truly touched and inspired.”
Hosted at the beautiful newly constructed Chabad of Plantation, the social hall was eloquently set up with colorful décor. Several recipes from the cookbook were prepared for all the women present to taste and enjoy.
Not expecting such a wonderful crowd, all 72 books brought to the event were sold. “Once the women heard Joanne’s story, they immediately lined up for the book-signing and all the cookbooks sold out quickly,” said Malky Goodman of Chabad West Davie.
The evening was a great success and display of unity for the participating Chabads: Chabad of Plantation, SW Broward, West Davie and Pembroke Pines and their respective Rebbetzins who organized the wonderful event.
Mrs. Tzirel Andrusier of Chabad Pembroke Pines agreed. “It was really enjoyable working together and it shows how much more we can achieve when we unite. We are all looking forward to organizing our next event very soon. Stay tuned!”
