Shliach Opens City Council Meeting with Prayer
Southwest Florida Shliach Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowitz was invited by Ft. Myers mayor Randall Henderson to open the City Council meeting with a prayer.
Rabbi Minkowicz, together with his son Junior Shliach Peretz Meir Simcha were invited by the Mayor Randall Henderson to open the City Council Meeting with a Prayer.
Rabbi Minkowicz began with the teachings of the Alter Rebbe, how one must live with the times which means the Parsha of the week and shared the biblical story of Balak and Bilam and the conversation that Bilam had with the donkey and the angel.
He went on to explain how Bilam was required to only speak the word of g-d, and the Hebrew word ‘Peh’ [mouth] has the numerical value of 85, which is the same numerical value of Ahava and Chesed [love and kindness]. Rabbi Minkowitz blessed the council that everything they disscuss should be with love and kindness.
The Mayor and council members were very grateful for the invocation and thanked the Rabbi and his son for coming to teach and bless the meeting.
