Washington Post Highlights Chabad as Trend-Setter
The Washington Post ran a story highlighting a growing trend of synagogues across the country who are offering free services as a way of making people feel welcome during the High Holidays.
The article focused on Chabad.org’s directory of High Holiday services in more than 500 cities around the world, which lists more than 500 High Holiday events in more than 30 countries, and quoted Rabbi Motti Seligson as well as a number of shluchim offering free services to those in their area who are not going to shul and are using creative marketing techniques to promote them.
The shluchim include; Rabbi David Eliezrie, of Yorba Linda, CA who sent free High Holiday tickets to unaffiliated Jews in the local area; Rabbi Shmuel Gancz, of Suffern, NY, who had lawn signs placed around his neighborhood promoting the services; and Rabbi Yisrael Kugel, of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, who organized a shofar service in Central Park for Jews who may otherwise not have gone to shul on Rosh Hashanah.
