First Ever Kosher Mikvah in Ecuador Completed

Ecuador’s first ever Mikvah was completed this week and is now only waiting for rain. The Mikvah, which is located in the city of Guayaquil was designed by Harav Yirmiyahu Katz, the world-renowned Mikvah expert with the help of the globetrotting Mikvah consultant Rabbi Elozor Raichik.

Rabbi Katz, is the author of the Sefer Mikva Mayim, which is used today around the world by all Mikvah Builders and Rabbis.

The interior of this Beautiful Mikvah was designed by the renowned interior designer Ms. Karla Negrete. The Mikvah Was completed in a record time of just 3 months and was designed to accommodate all the communities needs.

In addition to following the Rebbe Rashab’s system of Bor Al Gabai Bor, a separate rain storage tank (Oitzar) was added, which will enable changing the rain water on a regular basis, similar to the Rebbe Reshab’s Mikvah in Rostov. This was enabled by a custom concrete roof designated only for collecting rain water.

This week, Rabbis Katz and Raichik made the trip to Ecuador to check out the system and get it ready for the next rain. After approving the system, he locked and sealed all the doors and it will remain under seal until the Mikvah fills with Mei Geshomim.

The Mikvah was built under the auspices of the Shliach Rabbi Uri Taweil.

Rabbi Taweil said, “With A State of the Art Gorgeous Mikvah, when it opens soon, it will Help greatly and  encourage people to start using the Mikvah and encourage many people in keeping the great Mitzvah of Taharas Hamishpacha properly”.

The Jewish community of Guayaquil greatly thanked the local philanthropist Mr. Johnny Czarninsky and his son Mr. Gad Czarninsky for their tireless effort and involvement in funding and building the Mikvah complex.

The Mikvah was built in memory of their mother and grandmother, the matriarch of the family, who recently passed away, Mrs. Rivkah Bas Geitel, A”H.
