500 at the Annual Gala Auction of Chabad of Alaska

An outstanding show of over 500, including prominent leaders business, academia, and elected officials gathered at the Hilton Anchorage for a black tie, auction fundraiser and gala dinner in Anchorage Alaska.

The Jewish community of Alaska, headed by the Shluchim, Rabbi Yosef & Esty Greenberg held and auction incorporated with the grand annual dinner this last Motzie Shabbos. Over 500 items were donated by local companies and community members to raise funds for the future Alaska Jewish Historical Museum and Lubavitch Jewish Center of Alaska.

Honorary Chairs of the dinner were Congressman Don Young, Speaker of the House, Representative John Harris, Governor Elect Sara Palin and CEO of First National Bank of Alaska Don Cuddy and University of Alaska Chancellor, Elaine Maimon.

The ballroom was designed by New York designer Miriam Hurwitz and featured the theme of “The Jewish Wedding – L’Chaim To Life”. Exhibits of “Jewish Brides and Ketubahs from Around the World and throughout the Ages” were beautifully displayed along with a Chupah draped over the dance floor.

The renowned Nafshenu band was flown in from New York City to bring the life the authentic joy of the “Jewish Wedding”.
