Chabad of Weston Celebrates 15 Years at a Gala Dinner

Sunday night, 21 Adar Sheni, Chabad of Weston hosted a Gala Dinner celebrating its 15th anniversary. 250 guests enjoyed a very elegant, festive evening with Guest speaker Rabbi Yossi Jacobson and Yisroel Amar who entertained the crowd with his gifted voice. Tears were brought to many eyes as he sang such beautiful heartfelt songs that moved the heart and stirred emotions.

Rabbi Jacobson delivered a powerful keynote address that had the crowd spellbound for 40 minutes.

2 couples were honored with awards and were recognized for their outstanding commitment to Chabad of Weston.

Ken and Edie Scherer – Guests of Honor. Edie was born in Israel but had absolutely no Jewish education and for 65 years never had anything to do with Jewish observance. 2 years ago she attended a family Bar Mitzvah in Montreal where she met Rabbi Shmuel Gnewish, who put her in touch with Rabbi Spalter in Weston and ever since then she and her husband have returned to Yiddishkeit at the age of close to 70 and older. They became Shomrei Shabbos and are now in the process of selling their house so they can move close to the Shul. A truly amazing story of a neshomo coming back home through hashgocho protis. Last Rosh Hashanah (5770) was her first time she ever heard the shofar blown. 10 days later was the first time she fasted on Yom Kippur and has been strengthening her Yiddishkiet ever since.

Roy and Terry Shewitz were awarded as members of the year.

A great time was had by all as the Tekiah orchestra brought everyone to their feet for some very lebedike dancing.

Rabbi Yisroel and Leah Spalter are the directors of Chabad of Weston.
