On March 4 2011, the Rohr Chabad Student Network of Ottawa organized Shabbat 200. As indicated by its name , the goal was to gather 200 Jewish students from both Carleton and Ottawa U. over 240 Jewish students attended this event.

On March 4 2011, the Rohr Chabad Student Network of Ottawa organized Shabbat 200. As indicated by its name , the goal was to gather 200 Jewish students from both Carleton and Ottawa U. over 240 Jewish students attended this event.
This is a world wide project, done at various campuses The CSN hosts this program each year right here in our nation’s capital.
The students experienced fancy table decor and an elegantly catered Shabbat meal, right in the heart of Ottawa U. Two awards were given to dedicated students, Ariella Singer received the leadership award, and Ilana Belfer received the chesed award for her involvement in community service. According to Rebecca Rosenstock a law student at Ottawa U “ it was a great turnout on Shabbat 200 ! I’m happy it turned out well. I heard many people talking about their positive shabbat experience
The dinner began with candle lighting, Steaphne Cohen led everyone with Kiddush. Shawn Stieblauff did the Hamotzee , the Hon. John Baird the leader of the house spoke very strongly about his governments strong support for Israel. Many students got a chance to meet other Jewish students, socialize, and enjoy Shababt.
In order to pull off this event there were a team of volunteers mostly students who worked around the clock on Thursday and Friday. The volunteers, were Stephanie Reuveni, Mindy Amar, Jenny Roberge, Ariella Singer, Sarah Dolansky.
