Fun for all at Chabad’s Sunshine Club
Almost 300 senior citizens attended a Jan. 9 Sunshine Club luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel in Agoura Hills.
The event was sponsored by the Chabad of the Conejo.
The luncheon featured entertainment by comedian Mark Schiff, who has appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “Late Show” as well as HBO and Showtime specials.
Rachel Johnson played the harp.
The club is designed to bring companionship into the lives of seniors throughout the area, including those living on their own, in assisted living facilities or in convalescent homes.
The club’s volunteers visit with seniors on a biweekly basis to offer help and cheer.
Renee Overton founded the club and dedicated it to the memory of her mother, Evelyn Overton, co- founder of The Cheesecake Factory.
Evelyn Overton felt that not enough was being done in the community to look after its senior citizens.
