CYN Enjoyes Amazing NYC Shabbaton
With descriptions of “fantastic retreat” and “life-altering experience”, Chabad Youth Network of Ontario, directed by Rabbi Shmuli Nachlas, has wrapped up its 2010 New York Shabbaton for nearly 100 high-school students from Toronto, join by teens from Chabad of Markham, Chabad of Niagara and Montreal Chai Centre, impacting teens with an unforgettable and inspiring weekend in the Big Apple.
Highlights of the trip included shopping on Canal Street, the never-dimming lights of Times Square, a visit to Madame Toussaud’s famous Wax Museum, and an amazing sight-seeing tour of Battery Park. The teens then converged on Crown Heights towards late Friday afternoon to experience an uplifting Shabbos hosted by the gracious Chabad community, including a visit to 770, Havdala at Chabad at Cordozo, and followed by a Motzei Shabbos performance by illusionist Marc Garfinkle. Finally, on Sunday morning the exuberance turned solemn with a highly-charged spiritual trip to the Rebbe’s Ohel—for many, the most emotional experience of the entire Shabbaton.
CYN extends a hearty thank you to Rabbi Yossi Jacobson for his inspirational talks to the teens, Moshe Pinson and the entire crew of Bais Shmuel for their outstanding hospitality throughout Shabbos, the Gutnick’s from Montgomery St., our annual breakfast hosts, Rabbi Naftali Rosenstreich of Chabad of Gramercy Park for arranging a morning reception, and Rabbi Chezky Wolff of Chabad at Cordozo. Finally, on behalf of all the teens who benefitted from this inspiring and uplifting weekend, a big Yasher Koach is extended to all the Crown Heights families that have opened their warm homes and made the teens feel so welcome.

Rabbi Shmuli
Rabbi Shmuli Nachlas the hardest working shliach in Canada and his amazing sidekick Rabbi Mendel Fishman pulled off an incredible weekend! Nice to see rabbi Gitlin there as well. Chabad of all Canada should be proud!
Chaim Shapiro
Wow! Mendy G. is Awesome! He has the perfect balance of Chasidishkeit, and being down to earth. He could be hanging with the kids, and have fun, and then do mivtzoim with them when it needs to be done. That is besides for him being one of the nicest guys out there. He should have much success in the future!
Chabad Niagara!

Rabbis G-s number #1 Fan !!
Wow – Rabbi Gitlin and Your children are an inspiration to us all.
Your energy and care for these teens are exemplary. I now have the impetus to emulate you by doing a weekend for the teens in my community as well.
Go Rabbi G!!
Rabbi Meir Gitlin - Chabad of Markham -
I want to truly thank Rabbi Shmuli Nachlas and Shayna Krybus for all their hard work putting together this wonderful Shabbaton. Working and being together with them was very pleasant and enjoyable.
A huge “yasha koach and a sincere “thank you” goes to all the chaperones who came along to help – A special heartfelt “thank you” to my own children – Yanky, Zlata, Moshe, Mendy and Runya Gitlin as well as Rabbi Shmuli’s sisters Bassie and Mushky Nachlas as well as Chaya Kotlarsky – who’s endless help and participation made this trip not only possible but meaningful and enjoyable for all our teens. Of course, to all the wonderful families who housed our teens – and to all the bachurim and girls who befriended our group, in 770, on the street or at the Ohel – your warmth, generosity and kindness is so appreciated and memorable and immeasurably impactful.
May our next trip be to the third Bais Hamikdosh and may it be very soon.
