The Governor Who “Grew Up in the Shliach’s House”
Newly elected Governor Dan Malloy was only certified by the Connecticut Secretary of State late this afternoon due to unforeseen voting problems in certain districts of the State. One thing is certain; Governor Malloy’s strong friendship with Israel, the Jewish People and Chabad.
In fact, in the Governors own words, he grew up in the home of Connecticut Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Deren, literally. In a video shot in front of the Deren home, Mr. Malloy talks about how he grew up in this home (many years before the Deren’s established it as the first Chabad House of Stamford).
Not forgetting his “roots,” he would always attend the annual Chabad Dinner, the groundbreaking for the new Chabad Center, and shared words of comfort at the memorial for the Mumbai Shluchim.
One special moment was at the the Siyum Sefer Torah that was held at the Deren home where he was excited to be coming back to his roots – and was even honored to carry the Torah in the parade to the Chabad Center.
In the Sefer Hashluchim the picture of the then Chabad Center (before the expansion into the magnificent new building) is the home that was once the home of the Malloy family where young Dan grew up (and as he often pointed out – the eighth in his family of eight, and the Derens are also eight). That foundation will serve him well as he begins his new career serving the people of Connecticut, including the vast Jewish community and the many Chabad Centers spread across his State.

If the Secretary of State is still counting….how did you elect him Governor?!
(Governor) Tom Foley will be sure to get a copy of this article!!!!!!!!!
Folley for GOVERNOR
None of the network have called this race as Malloy is less than 0.5% ahead of Tom Foley about 5,000 votes out of around 1,200,000 votes with about 12,000 votes still to be counted. Only the AP called it for Malloy yesterday but then retracted and said it was too close to call, so the Secretary of State is being a little early here.
Ok folly for folley...
The Governor who keeps close to Shluchim wins!
