SWAMPSCOTT, MA — This past Sunday, more than 30 North Shore teens joined the North of Boston Jew Crew for the first installment of Israel 3D, a six-week course teaching students about the major issues surrounding the land of Israel.

For the first class, Rabbi Yossi Lipsker of Chabad of the North Shore led discussions about the origin of the land of Israel, the history of how the Jews arrived in the Israel in the time of Abraham, and how the geographic location still serves as a major intersection of the world powers and religions.

The class began with a special surprise as Yaakov Lipsker, Rabbi Yossi’s son, joined the class live, over Skype. Yaakov was sitting on a rooftop in Israel and shared some thoughts and beautiful views, and the students were able to see the distant horizon where King Herod was buried.

The class ended with a fast-paced and educational virtual tour of the Negev Desert as part of the virtual tour of Israel segment of the course.

For the final 10 minutes of every week, JLITeens’ very own Israel adventure guide will explore a different part of Israel and tie the tour in with the lessons in the class.

This week it was all about the desert, the trade routes in the time of Abraham, and how Israel is a world leader in solar power, water conservation, and resource management.
