Chabad Preschool Hopes for $20k Chase Giveaway

The Chai Preschool, a premier Jewish preschool in Silicon Valley, is hoping to gain enough votes to be one of 200 charities to win $20k from Chase.

As early as its third year, the school filled to capacity with 50 children, and has seen its waiting list grow from year to year. The school has earned high praise from parents and educators, including education veterans such as Stanford University’s Bev Hartman, who said Chai “is an environment I would have been comfortable sending my own kids to.”

Chai’s director, Mrs. Esty Marcus of Chabad NP, says the secret of the school’s success is the quality of its teachers. “We interview hundreds of applicants and we’ve been very fortunate to have found teachers who love the students, love teaching and are constantly seeking to improve their skills and practices,” says Marcus. This year, pre-K teacher Mrs. Raizel Weinbaum won the Jewish Federation’s prestigious Diller Award for excellence in early childhood education.

The school draws from across the Jewish community, from the unaffiliated to the more traditional. Now in its fifth year, the school is currently looking to purchase a property to enable the school to expand.
