Student leaders at U of IL Recognized at Chabad Event
On Sunday night, May 23, Chabad at University of Illinois had its Celebration event. Celebrating Jewish life at University of Illinois, this special event was put together by parents alumni and friends. close to 200 people came together to celebrate the work and recognise the parents of the year Brian and Andrea Birkan, and recognize the 24 student leaders that dedicate their time on the Chabad Leadership Board.
At the event, Ruth McCauly, Associate dean of students addressed the crowd, and spoke of the major revival of Jewish Life, that Chabad has brought to campus.
This event brought with a very diverse crowd of parents, alumni and friends.
The event took place in the North suburbs of Chicago.
In only 7 short year Illini Chabad has grown to a huge center with over 1500 students involved, with Friday nights with over 100 students each week, a full Kosher meal program in the dorm serving on average 90 students a night, amongst its many other programs..
This event highlighted that the work of Illini Chabad on Campus, is not just about today, but about creating the leaders of tomorrow. So well highlighted on how so many of Chabad’s alumni, today are very involved with Jewish community and their involvement with Illini Chabad is still strong.
Chabad at University of Illinois today, is about the Jewish community of Chicagoland of tomorrow.
The event itself, put together by a committee of Alumni, parents and friends is just one indication of the community the Illini Chabad built.
The event highlighted the strong student leadership that Chabad has built, an amazing group of students, that put in long hours of dedication to create a vibrant Jewish Life on campus.At the event the 24 students leaders from all over Chicagoland and the US where honored.
