Released Time at the Lag BaOmer Parade

On Lag B’Omer, over 1200 Jewish children from 93 public schools in New York participated in the Great Lag B’omer Parade. Their attendance was organized by Released Time, an educational outreach program for public school children under the auspices of NCFJE.

The children had a special seating section reserved for them, from which they enjoyed a fabulous concert by Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried, Lipa Shmeltzer and Uncle Moishy. They received a special shout-out from Avraham Fried: “ A very special welcome to a very special group of children! Please give them a hand; the children from Released Time!”

Following the concert, the children joined in the parade and marched down Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue, the boys proudly sporting their Yarmulke and Tzitzis. They were greeted by loud cheers from both sides of the service lane. “That was my favorite part of the whole thing, marching down Kingston Avenue”, reported a child from PS 207.

The parents were quite amazed with the dedicated staff members. When one staff member took a child home after the parade, she was so thankful and gave him a ride home. Another parent from PS 312 was overheard commenting on how amazing all the staff were.

Afterward, they enjoyed a delicous BBQ prepared by the dedicated staff.

The organizers would like to thank all the dedicated bochurim, yungerleit and Beis Rivkah girls for all their help before, during and after the parade.

In addition, they would like to thank Sholem Ber Baumgarten, Mendy Weg and Yanky Teitelbaum for everything they did and Shimmy and Levi Weinbaum for the arranging the unbelievable “Nerveless Nocks” show.
