BERLIN, Germany [CHI] — Israeli president Shimon Peres arrived earlier this week in Germany and began his visit to the country marking the upcoming international holocaust remembrance day.

BERLIN, Germany [CHI] — Israeli president Shimon Peres arrived earlier this week in Germany and began his visit to the country marking the upcoming international holocaust remembrance day.
The first event was a reception which took place yesterday and many leaders of the Jewish communities participated and a number of Shluchim including Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel and Rabbi Shmuel Segal. Before the event the shluchim met and spoke with the president about Chabad Shlichus and its work in spreading judaisim and the Torah of the Rebbe.
Today an event took place at the Umschlagplatz, the spot where German Nazis in 1942 loaded about 320,000 Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto into cattle cars and sent them by train to the Treblinka death camp.
