Kindling the Torches of Humanity in Cleveland OH

This past Sunday, the 26th of Kislev, celebrating the third night of Chanukah, Congregation Zemach Zedek and the Jewish Heritage Center held their fourth annual Grand Menorah Kindling, where a giant 9 Ft Menorah was lit.

This event took place in Public Square and was well attended despite the frigid weather. Amongst the guests of honor were Cleveland’s Mayor Frank Jackson, who kindled the Shamash (middle) branch of the menorah, and Cleveland’s Hillel Foudation Executive Director Dr. Gary Coleman.

The crowd sang and danced, and even the mayor danced to ‘Al hanisim.’ Traditional potato latkes and jelly donuts were served, and quickly vanished.

This event was coordinated by Rabbi Osher Kravitsky, and dedicated in memory of Aron David Small, and Grisha Shyenfeld OBM
