First Ever Life Sized Jenga Blocks Menorah Lighting

FREEHOLD, NJ — Over 200 participants brazed the rain on Sunday to participate in the building & lighting of the first ever life size Jenga Block Menorah.

The Jenga Block Menorah, made from close to two thousand wood blocks, was the “brain child” of Rabbi Avrohom Bernstein of Chabad of Western Monmouth County, NJ. Rabbi Bernstein was also the innovator of the first Lego Menorah in 2002, which was later replicated at many Chabad Menorah Lightings since.

The Menorah was renamed the “Macca-Block Menorah” alluding to the menorah the Macabbim lit at their return to the Bais Hamikdosh, after fighting off the Syrian-Greeks during the time of Chanukah.

After the menorah building, and the lighting by Rabbi Meir Chazanow of Brooklyn, NY, NJ State Senator Jennifer Beck addressed the crowd in the large Freehold, NJ mall, with a Chanukah message of religious tolerance, and the importance of spreading the light of freedom throughout the world, especially in these dark times.
