Chabad Women’s Circle Enjoys Unique YogaDance Workshop

Participants at Chabad’s YogaDance Jewish Women’s Circle enjoy socializing. Chana Burston, leader of Chabad’s Jewish Women’s Circle, is on far right.

Chabad’s Jewish Women’s Circle experienced an innovative “YogaDance Workshop”. Held at the Ballroom of Dr. Seth and Nadine Pulver of Highland Mills, Chana Burston, leader of the Jewish Women’s Circle, welcomed the thirty-five participants and shared kabbalistic insights into the new Jewish month of “Kislev.”

Burston then introduced Shelly Dembe, founder of A Healthier Balance of Columbus Ohio. Dembe, yoga teacher, personal trainer, lifeforce yoga practitioner for anxiety and depression and Kripalu Certified YogaDance instructor would be leading the evening’s YogaDance. The YogaDance complimented this year’s Jewish Women’s Circle theme of a year of “creativity and well-being”.

Dembe captured her audience as she described her life’s journey transforming to live as an observant Jewish woman and how her physical joy inspired from health and dance deeply compliments her spiritual journey.

The YogaDance class was exhilarating, offering a fusion of yoga and dance with passion and energy. Movement was accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and heart opening Jewish music. Dembe called this workshop a “workout for the body and soul.”

“I felt very inspired and enjoyed the whole evening, particularly amongst such a warm and loving crowd,” said Iris Sandow of Highland Mills.

Participants enjoyed a healthful snack bar and holiday shopping for jewelry and accessories.

Adria Gross of Monroe won the Jewish Women’s Circle complimentary raffle gift; a decorative Chanukah platter.

“The response to Dembe’s YogaDance workshop was so positive we plan to have her share her talent with the Jewish Women’s Circle again in the near future,” says Burston. “The combination of soulful, yet energetic music and both relaxing and active dance brought a unique energy and joy to the Jewish Women’s Circle.”

Chabad’s Jewish Women’s Circle provides the opportunity for women from throughout the county to relax and socialize while exploring both the physical and mystical aspects of our heritage. Contemporary Jewish issued are explored through innovative workshops, lectures and creative activities. This year’s upcoming meetings will be replete with creativity and well-being, as participants are given the opportunity to tune into the wealth of the soul with art, dance, music, drama and health workshops, culminating with a special end-of-year concert.
