New Sefer Torah for DaMinyan!

MELBOURNE, Australia [CHI] — DaMinyan, a Chabad Shule in Melbourne Australia that caters to young Jewish adults from all backgrounds, has recently celebrated its first Hachnosas Sefer Torah ceremony.

The traditional procession started at twilight, with over 500 Jewish people joining together in unity to dance with the Sefer Torah. Fire torches were lit, and a Ute pumped blaring Jewish music. The Torah was passed around to different members in the community, while being held under a potable Chuppa.

As the Torah arrived at DaMinyan Shule, the new Sefer Torah was ‘greeted’ by the old Torahs. Lively dancing and Hakofos ensued.

The members of DaMinyan then went to Kimberly Gardens Restaurant, where they enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner, a range of uplifting and entertaining speeches, and more dancing.

The night was a tremendous success, and left everyone feeling excited and inspired to increase in Torah study.

Wish we had a minyan like in Manhattan! Heard a lot about Daminyan over here and it’s amazing how a Minyan so far away can generate so much attention.
