Unity Day Lag BaOmer in South Florida

BOCA RATON, FL [CHI] — Chabad Youth Network of Florida directed by Rabbi Shmuly Gutnick arranged a spectacular unity day rally in honor of Lag B’omer in which over a thousand children from schools in South Florida joined together.

The theme of the entire event was unity and Ahavas Yisroel. Rabbi Shmuly G., welcomed all the children and schools to the unity event, which took place on the campus of Landow School of N. Miami. Things were already beginning to rock, the children were cheering in excitement in preparation for what was about to come. Rabbi Mendy Weiss spoke animatedly to the children about the importance of unity and that this day would be dedicated to Torah, Tefillah, and Tzedaka.
Children representing their schools were called up to recite the 12 pesukim. The energy from the children was incredible! All the voices joined together as one, was a beautiful sight to behold.

The bochurim from yeshiva gedolah in Miami came with boundless energy to pump up the kids and bring an added enthusiasm and excitement to the event!!
Rabbi Avrohom Korf, head shliach of Florida addressed the crowd with inspiring words about the importance and greatness of the day.

Although the sun was shining down upon all the children with its famous Florida strength, their excitement and involvement could not be dimmed. Ice pops and freezing cold water bottles were distributed to all.

With lots of noise and motion the Miami extreme team entertained the crowd with wild basketball stunts and incredible jumps and dunks, to the amazement of all! The Landow yeshiva boys’ choir, lead by Rabbi Yakov Garfinkel, took the stage and brought the crowd to their feet with songs of unity. Everyone joined in and added even more excitement to the event.

Each child was given a dime to give to tzedaka. Chips and more drinks were distributed. Everyone recited the blessings together and enjoyed the much needed refreshments while they watched the African Acrobats perform an unbelievable show full of balancing acts, jumping through fire hoops, and much more!

At the conclusion of the event a psalm of tehillim was recited for Israel and for all family and friends around the world. Everyone was given a balloon. Each child chose one act of goodness to do; the crowd counted down from 10 to 1 and simultaneously released the balloons, and watched as their good deeds reached up high.

Throughout the event tickets were distributed to the children. Before the schools departed, a raffle of some incredible prizes took place. 2 bikes and a basketball hoop were raffled off.

Everyone left with a feeling of true unity and adrenaline to continue in the path set by the unity day event!!!
