KRIVOY ROG, Ukraine [FJC] — This week, a seminar took place, involving women from the Jewish community of Krivoy Rog – a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine – and other nearby communities. The event was attended by about 40 people between the ages of 25 to 50 years.

The seminar was called “Jewish wisdom – The basis of a Jewish home”, the idea of which was put forward by the wives of Chabad Lubavitch emissaries serving in the region (namely, Mrs. Ziva Edery, Miri Strasberg, Michal Zelikson), together with Tatiana Kutz, the Director of the Krivoy Rog Ohr Avner Fund.

The seminar lasted for one entire day, from morning right through to evening. The rich, educational program was devoted to all aspects of the family and the modern woman’s life. Shushan Weber, a specialist on family issues visiting from Dnepropetrovsk, gave a presentation on the “higher gift of love – children”. As well, participants learned about the stages of Jewish education and timeless moral values.

The theme “Conflict in the Family” was addressed by a well-known local psychologist, Angelica Shamne. The seminar also dealt with other examples relevant to family situations and provided practical skills and techniques towards preventing and resolving family conflicts.

In addition to lectures, classes and training sessions participants enjoyed a film on the Chaya Mushka Schneerson, a role model for every Jewish woman. Everyone was delighted by a surprise in the seminar’s cultural program, with a performance by the ‘Shay’ Vocal Ensemble. The event ended with consensus among attendees that they would organize such gatherings more regularly.
