ORENBURG, Russia [FJC] — This week brought a new page in the history of the Jewish community of Orenburg, with the occurrence of the opening ceremony for the new Ohr Avner Chabad educational center.

The new bright and spacious building is equipped with everything essential for students and a successful educational process. This new home will enable the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School to continue its work, which has already gained a strong reputation among local residents due to its solid position in local intellectual competitions among schoolchildren in Orenburg.

New Ohr Avner School Opens

ORENBURG, Russia [FJC] — This week brought a new page in the history of the Jewish community of Orenburg, with the occurrence of the opening ceremony for the new Ohr Avner Chabad educational center.

The new bright and spacious building is equipped with everything essential for students and a successful educational process. This new home will enable the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School to continue its work, which has already gained a strong reputation among local residents due to its solid position in local intellectual competitions among schoolchildren in Orenburg.

The festivities also involved a very honored guest – Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar – in addition to a number of representatives from the City Administration. Chief Rabbi of Orenburg Goel Mayers guided the guests on a tour of the new building, including the computer room, large spacious classrooms. They also had a chance to witness the school’s modern design, fine students, speeches and a cultural program dedicated to this inauguration. Mrs. Kinneret Mayers introduced the students and spoke about their many talents.

Rabbi Lazar and Rabbi Mayers also sat in some classes, where they witnessed how the learning process is developing and where they could observe the skills of the school’s teachers.
Undoubtedly, the new educational center will contribute to the revival of Jewish education in Orenburg. This new building for the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School will allow the children to continue their studies in decent conditions and contribute to their overall well-being. The Jewish community of Orenberg is a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
