DZERZHINSK, Russia [FJC] — In Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Jewish community of Dzerzhinsk has launched a new video project. The community has already gained successful experience in creating a film on its own, but has now taken the decision to not stop at just one individual film story. Over the next two years, this blossoming Jewish community will be issuing a series of bright and cognitive video vignettes dedicated to the history and traditions of Jewish holidays.
New Video Series Launched
DZERZHINSK, Russia [FJC] — In Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Jewish community of Dzerzhinsk has launched a new video project. The community has already gained successful experience in creating a film on its own, but has now taken the decision to not stop at just one individual film story. Over the next two years, this blossoming Jewish community will be issuing a series of bright and cognitive video vignettes dedicated to the history and traditions of Jewish holidays.
As the first theme to explore in this dynamic new project, participants decided to make a film on Purim. Yesterday was the first day of shooting the film clip. Extensive work is planned for the film, using scenic backdrops and colorful costumes. The role of actors is being taken on by students from the community’s Sunday school, the Jewish Youth Club, as well as children attending the Ohr Avner Chabad Kindergarten.
The main inspiration for a group of writers, directors and scenic designers was initiated by Mrs. Chana Klimash, who is the Director of the Jewish Sunday School, as well as youth leader Chana Tamilova.
The Jewish community of Dzerzhinsk – a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia – would be pleased to invite all interested individuals and organizations to purchase a DVD of this film for the upcoming Purim holiday. Like hundreds of Jewish communities spanning the Former Soviet Union, this one community aims to make Purim as joyous as possible.
