First Can-orah in England
ESSEX, UK [CHI]– The Buckhurst Hill Canorah is the first such Menorah ever to be built in England, built by Rabbi Odom Brandman and his community the 1300 cans collected will benefit two local charities, a Homeless Night Shelter and Norwood, a UK charity that helps disabled people and their families.
The spectacular Menorah was lit in a hall around the corner from the Chabad House as the huge crowds that participate each year in the Chanukah celebration cannot be catered for in the small Chabad House. The event began with the lighting of the Public Menorah in Buckhurst Hill which is located on the prestigious Queens Road and among those honoured to light the candles were two local Councillors Cllr Brain Sandler and Cllr Mitchell Cohen who was joined by his daughter Cllr Rebbeca Cohen, a Councillor in her own right.
