GOSHEN, NY [CHI] — The Jewish Women’s Circle, led by Chana Burston, recently hosted its first event of the year. This program was in honor of the holiday of Sukkot. Over thirty-five ladies gathered at the Burston Sukkah for an evening under the stars of inspiration and creativity.

Chana Burston shared fascinating Talmudic and kabalistic insights on “Astrology & Constellations: The Jewish perspective on Horoscopes”. The elegant salad-bar featured forty vegetables and gourmet salad toppings, set in glass and crystal. Star-shaped glowing candles added a luminous touch to the evening.

Two local Israeli artists, Gabi Cohen and Sigal Szchuchman, of Highland Mills, led participants in a workshop to create decorative clay wall hangings to bless a home. “We chose the Chamsa shape,” explained Gabi to the crowd, “because of its hand shape which according to the mystics is a hand of blessing.” The ladies carved their own wishes for their home in the clay. Andrea Pincus of Washingtonville carved in her Chamsa, “May this token bring joy, happiness and love to all.”

“This is a really special evening,” said Florrence Lenhard, of Chester. “It was incredible to listen to Chana speak about the Torah’s view on astrology while sitting under the stars.”
