STAMFORD, CT [CHI] — Chabad Lubavitch is pleased to announce that Rabbi Chezkel and Elisheva Deren have joined its staff. Rabbi Deren who grew up in Stamford will assume the role of Development Director of Chabad’s acclaimed Friendship Circle. Mrs. Elisheva Deren, a native of Melbourne Australia has been appointed as Youth Director, overseeing Chabad’s extensive youth activities and programming.

New Shluchim Join Chabad of Stamford Staff

STAMFORD, CT [CHI] — Chabad Lubavitch is pleased to announce that Rabbi Chezkel and Elisheva Deren have joined its staff. Rabbi Deren who grew up in Stamford will assume the role of Development Director of Chabad’s acclaimed Friendship Circle. Mrs. Elisheva Deren, a native of Melbourne Australia has been appointed as Youth Director, overseeing Chabad’s extensive youth activities and programming.

Rabbi Chezkel Deren studied at Lubavitcher Yeshivot in Michigan and Jerusalem. He received his rabbinical ordination from the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad in Israel and advanced degrees in Rabbinics from Kollel Menachem in Melbourne Australia. As a rabbinic intern in Jerusalem and in Australia Rabbi Deren taught, lectured and wrote for scholarly periodicals. Teacher, Rabbi, and youth director Rabbi Deren has attracted admirers taken by his refreshing teaching style, eloquence and obvious passionate enthusiasm.

Mrs. Elisheva (Wolff) Deren grew up in Melbourne Australia. A graduate of Beth Rivka Ladies College in Melbourne she received her education degree at Machon Shoshanah in Jerusalem. She taught elementary school in San Mateo California, was director of Camp Gan Israel in Helsinki Finland and for the past two years has been Director of Programming for Chabad Youth in Melbourne.

Rabbi Yisrael Deren, director of Chabad Lubavitch said that “the addition of Rabbi and Mrs. Deren Junior to the Chabad staff was an exciting development in the expansion of Chabad’s programming and services”. “Bringing the Junior Derens to Stamford will allow Chabad to fulfill its pledge to raise the level of Jewish awareness involvement and commitment in our community”, Rabbi Deren said. As we begin to fully utilize our magnificent new center on High Ridge Road in Stamford it is important that we have the resources to meet the ever increasing demand for quality Jewish programming and education at every level.
