Kiddush Hashem on 4th of July in Simcha Monica

S MONICA, CA [CHI] — “Utilizing our Freedom to brighten up the world” was the motto of Chabad in Simcha Monica as we participated in the Parade that the Ocean Park Association of the City organized for 4th of July.

A big Menorah was placed on the back of a truck, music was being played also from the truck (Thanks to HaTomim Shimmy Brod), and the Bochurim were dancing up front. People were smiling, clapping and singing along, and revealing their Jewish pride as we passed them, some were even making comments like “Chabad, it’s good you’re here,” “Make sure you come back next year” and “Look, the Shofar Boys are here”.

As we paraded, with our truck and our “Mitzvah Cart” (which is used throughout the week at different places in the city, such as the Farmers Market, Third Street Promenade etc), a big Kiddush Hashem was made.

Before and after the Parade, we did Mivtzoim, putting on Tefillin with Jewish men, and giving out Shabbos candles to the women, inviting children to come to our camp etc. One woman who saw us from her 11th story apartment, came down to speak to us.

We want to thank Shai from Butel Construction for the use of his truck (and for driving it) as well as Shimmy Brod for the music and the Tmimim, the counselors of CGI Simcha Monica, for their Chayus, Lebedigkeit and for making our appearance the best it was.

We hope and pray that the Mivtzoim will bring about the blowing of the “Shofar Gadol” with the coming of Moshiach and the Rebbe leading us out of Galus NOW!
