Music industry, Hollywood, and Wall Street converge at Chabad of Midtown’s Annual Dinner

NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — Hundreds gathered at New York’s Cipriani 42 near Grand Central to celebrate Chabad of Midtown’s 12th annual dinner. The guest of honor was Brett Ratner, one of the most successful movie directors in the industry. Brett spoke movingly of his experiences as a yeshiva student and even regaled the audience with the yiddish song his grandmother would sing to him as a child.

Music entrepreneur Russel Simmons and his two young daughters spoke movingly about their “Uncle Brett”. Chairing the dinner were honorees Nat Rothschild and David & Lara Slager. Rabbi Yehoshua and Brocha Metzger thanked the honorees and guests for the tremendous show of support

This year’s dinner theme was “Growth and Expansion” and focused on Chabad of Midtown’s newly added programs and divisions. A special tribute film was screened at the dinner.

    Anyone know why Chabad has no connection with Steven Spielberg? I believe that Spielberg can be used as a tool for Shluchim, being that many frei Jews think very highly of him, it can bring a lot of Jews to Chabad. (To a lot of Frei Jews he is the “symbol” of the “successful American Jew”)

    (Brett Ratner is big, but nowhere close to Spielberg. Spielberg has mega-power – he is now worth around 3 billion.)
