Chabad of Plantation, Florida Groundbreaking!
PLANTATION, Florida [CHI] — This past Sunday, June 1st, Chof Zayin Iyar, hundreds of supporters gathered together on the site of the future home of Chabad of Plantation.
Since 1993, Chabad of Plantation, led by Rabbi Mendy Posner and his wife Chanie, has been located in a small storefront. This has limited the ability to grow and to start new programs.

Several years ago, Chabad of Plantation purchased a plot of land in the hopes of building a new permanent Chabad House. The plot is in a central location, allowing for continuous growth. This plot was also the last available plot in Plantation, and it was only through hard work and dedication, that we were able to obtain it.
Now, together with Rabbi Aron Pink and his wife Rochel, this dream is becoming a reality.
Mr. Ivor Bamberger, a staunch supporter and long time friend to Chabad of Plantation was the Master of Ceremonies and he gave a beautiful welcome and introduction to the program. Mr. Bamberger related warm congratulatory wishes from both the mayor of Plantation and the Governor of Florida.
R’ Menashe Joseph spoke of his empty past, devoid of all Yiddishkeit. While helping a local shul build up, he heard the sound of the Shofar on a radio. He began speaking with the Rabbi’s of the shul he was working on, and he began coming closer to his roots. He is now proud to be the Gabbai of our shul and is the proud father of k“ah 7 children. He emphasized that this shul is being built for all those children and teenagers who know nothing about their heritage.
Rabbi Mendy gave a heartfelt thank you to the rebbe for having the Zchus to be on Shlichus and to be doing the Rebbe’s work. Furthermore, he thanked all of the participants for their love and support.
The new shul will I”yh include a pre-school, a library, a guest house, classrooms, and much more. Iy”h construction will begin in the next few weeks and we hope that by next Shavuos we will be in the new building.
After the speeches were concluded, everyone was invited to participate in the actual groundbreaking outside.
Following the groundbreaking, all participants were invited into a large air-conditioned tent for an enjoyable meal.
