MOSCOW, Russia — The recently-opened ‘Shaarei Tsedek’ Charity Center has hosted a banquet for the ‘Chaya Mushka Lazar’ Free loan society. Apart from leaders and supporters of the Jewish community of Moscow, this gala event also engaged numerous honored guests.

Shiye Deutch, the Director of the ‘Shaarei Tsedek’ Center, gave the opening speech. Participants took great interest in learning about the ‘Chaya Mushka Lazar’ Free Loan Society, its activities, and various assistance programs. Several interesting talks ensued, delivered by Rabbi Yechezkel Soifer and Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar.

“It is through doing good deeds that we become closer to redemption,” commented Chief Rabbi Lazar. He introduced attendees to Vadim Aminov, a strong supporter of the Foundation. Thanks to his generosity, it has been possible for numerous young Jewish families with small children to receive much needed financial support. Paying reference to Soviet times, when Jewish families began to produce very few children, he noted that a goal of this program is to assist in the growth of the Jewish population.

Rabbi Itzhak Kogan reminded participants that G-d gives money to individuals so that they have the capacity to share it with others. FJC Executive Director Alexander Boroda and Mordechai Weisberg, the Director of the Moscow JCC then took up a collection in support of the Foundation. The event finalized with a recital of the ‘Misheberakh’ prayer, which was said for those who pledge their support for the greater good.
