With immense sadness we inform of the passing of Shliach, HaRav HaChossid, Rabbi Nissan Pinson, Shliach to Tunis, Tunisia, who passed away Monday night 24 Kislev, in Nice, France at the age of 89.
The Levaya will be in Israel, Wednesday.
Rabbi Pinson is survived by Yiabadlu Lechaim Tovim: his wife Rebetzin Rochel and children: Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok, Shliach in Nice, France; Mrs. Feigy Hecht, Shlucha in Nice, France; Mrs. Tscherna Matusof, Shlucha in Cannes, France; Rabbi Nochum, Mashpia in Brunoy, France; Rabbi Shmuel, Shliach in Brussels, Belgium.
Rabbi Nissan Pinson was born in Harkov, Ukraine and learned in underground yeshivos in those days. After leaving the former Soviet Union he moved to France. Later he moved to Morocco and in 1960 the Rebbe sent him to Tunisia where he established a Lubavitch empire.
Despite his severe illness he insisted on remaining in Tunisia and spend his last days in the company of his community that he loved so much. Hundreds of his “mekurovim” that made aliya to Israel in the course of the years continued their connection with Chabad and many enrolled in Chabad yeshivos and institutions.
