PSA: Large Number of EBT Thefts Reported in Crown Heights

by CrownHeights.info

A large number of EBT thefts have been reported in the Crown Heights Jewish community, possibly pointing to a data leak at a local store.

Multiple residents that have been victims of EBT theft have reported that they found a large number of transactions at a small store in Philadelphia which cleared out their account. Some saw hundreds of dollars stolen, others thousands.

Residents are asked to please check their balances and report any thefts to the authorities. Thefts can be reported online or by calling the number on the back of the card. You can also file for reimbursement of stolen funds by clicking HERE.

If you have been a victim of EBT theft, please also reach out to CrownHeights.info by emailing news@crownheights.info or message us on WhatsApp at 718-285-8000. We are actively investigating and the more people who report it, the higher chance something can be done about it.

Sadly this has been going on natiinwide since 2002.
Make sure you have your case number and you EBT card number.
Call the number on the back of the card. Check your balance.
    Check transactions and dispute.
After that talk to a representative who will cancel the card and send out a new one in 5-7 business days.
When you get a new card, change pin http://www.nyc.gov/site/hra/help/benefitreplacement.page
