PSA: Flood Watch In Effect For New York City, Check Your Drains
by CrownHeights.info
A Flood Watch is in effect for New York City Sunday afternoon warning of torrential downpours that may overwhelm drainage systems and lead to flooding.
The National Weather Service has announced the flood watch beginning at 2:00pm Sunday afternoon through this evening, bringing rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches in some areas with localized amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible in others.
The watch comes due to a slow moving line of showers and thunderstorms which are expected to move across the watch area this afternoon, and continuing through tonight.
Local residents should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should check their drains and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
