PSA: Marathon Road Closures Sunday To Major Roadways In Brooklyn, Including Eastern Parkway

Major traffic arteries near – and running through – Crown Heights will be closed Sunday as thousands of runners will be jogging the streets of Brooklyn for a half Marathon.

On April 23rd, 2023, thousands of marathoners and half marathoners will pour into Brooklyn for an epic running journey that will take them along Flatbush Ave and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.

The iconic route starts in hip North Brooklyn, according to the marathon’s organizers, and winds around the waterfront taking the runners under the historic Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn Bridges while delivering eye popping views of Manhattan. From there, the route heads up the grand concourses of Fulton Street & Flatbush Avenue before passing through Grand Army Plaza and onto Eastern Parkway before finishing in Prospect Park.

The course turns off from Grand Army Plaza onto Eastern Parkway, taking the runners to Brooklyn Ave before making a U-Turn and heading back to Grand Army Plaza.

The street closures will take place between the hours of 5:00am and 2:00pm.
