PSA: Disgusting Prank Call Emerging In Crown Heights, Don’t Fall For It

A disgusting prank call has surfaced in Crown Heights, scaring people into believing that something terrible has happened to a loved one.

A Crown Heights mother answered a call from an unknown number Wednesday to hear a recording of a girl screaming and crying. The frightened resident called their daughter’s schools and confirmed that she was OK.

Versions of these scams have been around for a long time, with scammers attempting to convince people that their loved ones had been abducted and a ransom was needed to set them free.

DON’T FALL FOR IT!

The immediate response in such situations should be to call our loved one in concern and locate them. If you are unable to locate them immediately, then 911 should be called.

These phone scams are becoming more and more convincing, and this one should serve as a reminder to never pay anyone over the phone with gift cards or credit cards, or any other means.
