Friends Launch Fundraiser for R’ Mordechai Goldin OBM

Two weeks ago Mordechai Goldin OBM lost a valiant battle with yeneh machlah and left behind his wife Penina and their six children. Now a group of friends have formed a committee and began a fundraising campaign to help support the family.

On 11th of Sivan, 5775 (May 28, 2015), our dear friend, the beloved by all Mordechai Goldin lost his valiantly fought battle with cancer. Only 59 years old, Mordechai left behind his wife Penina and their six children, five of whom are not yet married. To make matters worse, Penina is unable to work due to a stroke-related physical disability.

Mordechai’s incredible life inspired and warmed the hearts of many in our community and beyond: the children in his legendary F.R.E.E. Shabbos Club and summer camp; the lucky riders in his school bus; the throngs of bachurim crowded around the Shabbos and Yom Tov table of the Goldins’ open home; and the smiling kids lined up around his ice cream truck every summer.

No one walked away from an encounter with Mordechai without having been made better for it in some way. It might have been his sunny smile or his friendly pat on the back, his empathetic ear and caring advice, a favor he performed without regard for his own time, or the generosity with which he offered financial help.

Mordechai gave all the time. Now it’s our turn to give back to Mordechai by helping his family!

Please donate and spread the word! Consider making a monthly contribution by checking the “Give this amount monthly” box on the donation screen.

All proceeds received from this GoFundMe campaign will go to Mordechai’s family. Your donations are 100% tax deductible, graciously facilitated by Rabbi Eli Blokh of Chabad of Rego Park.

  • Nice

This is beautiful to see, and the reminder to everyone why life insurance is very important. As they say it’s not for the dead it’s for the living.

  • An amazing man!

Mordechai was such a special and kind man. He gave so much to the community and it is our turn to give to him. Let’s make this happen!

  • Really missed

Mordechai used to come to our colony and every child that made a sad face and didn’t have money got a free ice cream. Mordechai didn’t want a child who’s parents weren’t able to afford ice cream to feel bad.
    Very few people like him!
Very important to help this family.

Dear parents of the ULY children! Now is the time to give those Chanukah and Purim tips Mordechai always refused to accept!

  • Mordechai Ish Chesed

He was a real sweet warm person. A child not having money, was never turned away with a ice cream.

He was a very special person.

He smile and kindness will be sorely missed.
