PSA: Shabbos Times Mistake in CrownHeights.info Calendar

There is a minor typo in the CrownHeights.info 5770 calendar Shabbos Parshas Behar-Bechukotai candle lighting time. The calendar lists this week candle lighting for 7:04, when in fact it’s 7:40 this week; 36 minutes before the actual candle lighting time.

CrownHeights.info apologizes and hopes no one is overly inconvenienced by this error.

We are unaware of any Halachic implications of lighting candles and taking Shabbos in early. Many communities actually prefer to take Shabbos in early and consider it a big Mitzvah.

    Time is precious.

36 minutes gained to do melacha!

“Shesh yomom ta’avod” (six days you should work) is a mitzvah too!

Interestingly enough, there is a sicha on this week’s parsha (Bechukosai) where the Rebbe discusses that lehalacha there is no obligation to extend shabbos (See Likkutei Sichos, vol. 12 pages 108-114).

I also noticed that a few weeks ago there was an error in the parsha name (one of the parshiyos was repeated).
