Residents should be aware, the Police Car designated to giving tickets for seatbelts and cell phones [also knows as an APL car or Accident Prone Location car] got a snazzy upgrade, they went undercover. Now they are out giving tickets in an unmarked black Chevy Impala. And are still very successful L”A.

So drivers beware, and please take care to wear you seat belts and don’t use your cell phones while driving as it posses a hazard to yourself and other drivers as well as pedestrians.

    I heard that the APL auto 1474 will be back and the unmark is a temporary thing and cause the unmark does not have the camera. So that mean it harder to pover there case in court without camera.

    if you are unsure about a chevy impala or a ford crown victoria, whether it is a cop car or not, consider the following:

    police usually go out in pairs, sometimes there is a third guy in the back too. look to see how many people are inside the car.
    look to see if there are additional antennas on the car, usually it’s on the trunk.

    also, the undercover police use a cherry (red halogen light that goes on the front dash), but they keep it on the floor so that people wont see. the "cherry" sticks onto the dash by magnet or sometimes velcro. if you are close enough, look at the dash to see if there is a magnet or the like, its a big giveaway.
    ANOTHER BIG giveaway: if you see strobe lamps in the headlights, these are easy to spot if you know what they look like. strobe’s are mounted inside the headlight compartment on the floor, so if you spot those then you know its a cop.

    some other obvious giveaway’s are tinted windows, tires missing H.caps, grill lights, (red lights behind the grill) 3 guys in the the car with backwards baseball caps and dressed very casual (i.e. shorts, loose shirt), and a metal/rubber cage in the front of the car, (to protect from impact).

    i hope this was helpful to all of you, but try to stay out of trouble anyway.

    i cant understand how a police officer can give an emergency medical care provider a hard time about where he parked his car! what if it was a cop in danger, what if he responded to a call for an injured police officer… would they still give him trouble?! i highly doubt it!

    I saw them today. There was a guy in back seat as you mentioned. They were actively looking into each car to find violations.

    I suggest we create a warning system like truckers have where we can warn others where the cops are, and inform others of sightings.

    Of course, this should not give people an excuse to be reckless.

    Let’s not give them the excuses they are looking for to pull us over.

    although there is much worse crime going on these days in crown heights…it is against the law to drive while on the phone and for not wearing a seatbelt.
    so instead of warning everyone what the undercover car looks like, just abide by the law and be a safe driver.
    there you go, matter solved.

    tickets tickets tickets, so many tickets are given out every day, my suggestion is either:
    1) drive more safely
    2) stop giving out tickets, becasue you wont stop, you will get tired and exhausted
    3) stop driving, you can walk, and get exercise, (hint hint you know who you are)

    Em… yes, this is just want we need to keep us safe, undercover cops to give us…… traffic tickets!?

    How about some undercover cops patroling the hood for all the recent thugs who have been terrorizing this neighborhood. What else is there to say, another gem from the NYPD.

    ANOTHER police officer runnin around like a bord animal handed 0ut tickets for nothhhing! his name is DAVIS! he drives in a parking police car… my 14th time getting a ticket for double parking in front of a dr.’s office for a second with me in the car!LOL! $115.00! nice no!? wat is up with those "cops!?"
